Benefits of Floatation
- Relief from chronic pain and discomfort, as floating stimulates the brain to secrete large amounts of endorphins, which are pain killing, euphoria creating substances known as the body’s own opiates.
- Laboratory studies show that floating can rapidly and significantly decrease stress and anxiety, by sharply lowering the levels of biochemicals directly related to stress, anxiety, tension, and the “flight or fight response.” This greatly decreases the likelihood of stress related illnesses such as heart disease and many others.
- There is mounting evidence that floating can not only initiate substantial weight loss, but also providing an unprecedented maintenance effect, with weight loss continuing at the same degree for many months after floating.
- A spontaneous reduction in or elimination of such habits as smoking, drinking, and drug use. Floating counteracts addiction withdrawal symptoms as well.
- It can suspend the dominance of the detail-oriented left hemisphere of the brain, allowing the right hemisphere (which deals with large-scale and novel information) to operate freely, giving the floater access to unusual powers of creativity, imagination, visualization, and problem solving.
- Athletes use floatation tanks to improve their performance significantly, to speed their recovery from the stress of peak output, and to virtually eliminate fatigue and “post-race letdown.”
- Floatation tanks are being used in schools and universities as tools for “superlearning,” increasing the mind’s powers of comprehension, retention, and original thinking.
- There is significant evidence that two hours of floating are more restful and restorative than a full night of sound sleep, making floating, in the words of one prominent scientist, “a method of attaining the deepest rest that we have ever experienced.
The type of tank that we have is a Samadhi Tank, the original manufacturer of floatation tanks. The owners Glenn and Lee Perry worked with the inventor of the tank, John C. Lilly, to develop and market this product in the late 70's. Our tank has all of the accessories, including an interior light, floater comfort control (optional heat from above), and active or passive ventilation.”
Epsom Salt Benefits
Epsom salt is a naturally occurring mineral that is found in water. The chemical formula for Epsom salt is MgSO4·7H2O. Numerous studies have demonstrated the profound and wide-ranging benefits of magnesium and sulfate, the two major components of Epsom Salt.
Magnesium
After oxygen, water and basic food, magnesium may be the most important element your body needs. Magnesium is the 4th most abundant mineral in your body and is necessary for over 350 different bodily processes, including digestion, energy production, muscle function, bone formation, creation of new cells, activation of B vitamins, relaxation of muscles, as well as assisting in the functions of the heart, kidneys, adrenals, brain and nervous system. Lack of sufficient available magnesium in the body can interfere with any or all of these processes.
Magnesium depletion can be caused by such things as mental stress, caffeine, sugar, alcohol, tobacco, drugs of all types, high perspiration, low thyroid function, diabetes, chronic pain, diuretics, and a high carbohydrate, high-sodium or high-calcium diet.
Ninety to ninety-five percent of the population is below healthy
magnesium levels, including many who already use magnesium. Why? First,
the amount of magnesium required by the body is greater than people
think. Second, most magnesium capsules and tablets are not completely
absorbed by the body. Approximately 50% of our magnesium is found in
our bones, 49% is found in cell tissue (including our organs) and only
1% is found in our blood. The body works hard to maintain the proper
level in the blood and a person could have adequate levels in the blood
but be deficient in the rest of the body. There is a lot of interest in
magnesium deficiency and health related issues.
Even though magnesium can be absorbed through the digestive tract, it
is difficult to obtain sufficient magnesium through foods and
supplements. The most effective way to absorb magnesium in your body is
by soaking in an Epsom salt solution.
- Eases stress and improves sleep and concentration
- Helps prevent artery hardening and blood clots
- Helps muscles and nerves function properly
- Regulates activity of 325+ enzymes
- Makes insulin more effective
- Reduces inflammation to relieve pain and muscle cramps
- Improves oxygen utilization
- Makes insulin more effective
Sulfate
Sulfate is essential for many biological processes. It is needed for the formation of proteins in joints and brain tissue. Deficiencies in sulfates can cause conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis and faulty neural connections in the brain, leading to dysfunction. Sulfate is needed to start the cascade of digestive enzymes released from the pancreas. It is essential in forming the mucinous proteins which line the gut walls. These have two main functions, they stop the gut contents from “sticking,” and they block transport of toxins from the gut to the bloodstream. Low plasma sulfate has been found in patients with irritable bowel syndrome. In addition, sulfate is essential to detoxifying the effects of drugs and environmental toxins.
Sulfate is not easily absorbed through the gut wall, therefore oral supplements are not very effective in increasing sulfate levels in the body. Recent research has shown that it can easily be absorbed through the skin.
- Flushes toxins
- Improves absorption of nutrients
- Helps to form joint proteins, brain tissue, and mucinous proteins
- Helps prevent or ease migraine headaches
